Trade Area Facts
- Brownsville is the No. 1 city in Texas for job growth.
- SpaceX already has 300 engineers onsite, but that number is expected to double or triple. Since 2019, SpaceX has added nearly 3,000 employees (before the announcement of their HQ relocation).
- Brownsville Mayor, John Cowen, noted that SpaceX has "a $3 billion investment, obviously with the announcement of their headquarters moving from California to Starbase, right outside of Brownsville is such a huge thing for us. They are the most valuable aerospace company in the world, valued at $210 billion."
- Starbase (SpaceX) is expected to generate $99M in tourism for Cameron County by 2025. It has already generated $800M in capital income and indirect taxes from its 350-acre land with 222,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
- Two LNG projects at the Port of Brownsville are bringing some of the largest capital investments to the area with a combined $20 billion investment from NextDecade Rio Grande LNG and Texas LGN. These projects are bringing high paying jobs to the area, with 1,000 employees already hired and an expected 9,000 more to be added over the next few years.
- A new 1,000-acre master planned community with 3,000 homes, including executive homes, is being built just north of the mall off I69 and Hwy 100. A second 1,000 acre master planned community, including another 3,000 homes, is in the planning phase.
